Let's all try Harder

More for us all to do. I was talking to a fellow triathlete the other day and he said something that resonated with me. He said, " Every time I go into a Road Bike Shop I feel like an outsider, I just don't seem to belong- they treat me like crap". Since I have experienced the same feeling - I decided to ask other triathletes about their experiences. One after another they shared related experiences and very similar stories. I then started thinking about the "FLAT" triathlon market. Soon after I decided I would do the opposite of what I had felt at the bike shop in an effort to create our own “Triathlon Feeling” - make people feel...

Maintain Stopping Power

Cleaning Brake Track and Pads There is debate about rim brakes and disk brakes on Triathlon Bikes. One way to maintain the braking efficiency of the center pull rim brakes on your PremierBike TACTICAL is to keep both the pads and brake tracks clean. Cleaning Brake Track: Cleaning the brake track may require you to remove the tires to adequately access the entire braking surface. Run your fingers along the circumference of the wheel’s brake surface feeling for variations in roughness. Changes in tackiness or ‘smooth-to-rough’ patches along the brake track may indicate areas with glazing. Use a clean gray “scotch-brite” pad (ultra-fine-abrasive pads) and Acetone. Clean the brake track along the top 13mm of rim circumference. Remove all discoloration,...

When you receive your PremierBike Tactical Triathlon bike, an Ultra optimized processed chain will be pre-installed that should get you through years of races as long as you keep them lubricated. This chain is included in the cost of your TACTICAL. More than a wax job!! There are many companies that offer – what they refer to as “Chain Optimization”; however those services usually come down to running a rough chain a while, cleaning the factory lube off and adding a wax/PTFE lube mixture. Its’ a nice start but hardly "true optimization" and hardly a cost effective option. Most of these services claim a 200-400 mile...

Premier Tactical: A Bike for the Proletariat DAN EMPFIELDThu Dec 01 2016 As a former bike maker myself I always found myself in the following conundrum: Do I make what I think is the best product I can, damn the customer’s wishes? Or do I make what the customer wants even if it violates my own sense of what’s best? The choice of whether to lead or follow can’t be binary, and weighting each imperative properly can make all the difference. The author of this project has heavily weighted listening to rather than getting too far in front of his customer. The maker is Dan Kennison and if the name is vaguely familiar, it may be for one a couple of...
